How to be a perfect guest: A guide to staying in an apartment from booking to checkout

In a world of diverse accommodation offers—ranging from weekend city breaks and remote work to searching for the perfect vacation spot—knowing the rules and procedures of apartment rentals is key to a successful stay. From the booking stage all the way to checkout, there are several key points to keep in mind to avoid stress and ensure a comfortable experience. Here is a guide to the rules that will make your time in a rented property unforgettable and hassle-free.

At the Booking Stage

Pay close attention to what is included in the rental price. Usually, this includes utilities, a basic set of toiletries, linens and towels, accommodation for a pre-determined number of people, and final cleaning. Very often, pet stays, tourist taxes, or parking are subject to additional fees. It is also good to know that at Renters, you are entitled to a free towel exchange after 8 days. Just let us know in advance, and we will take care of the rest.

Check-in and Check-out

After paying for the reservation, Renters guests receive a detailed video instruction showing how to reach the apartment. Our check-in and check-out processes are entirely contactless. Typically, there is a lockbox with keys near the door, and guests receive a code to open it on the day of arrival. Some apartments are equipped with special keypad handles, and in rare cases, a key safe may be located up to 200 meters from the apartment. Checkout works similarly—keys, remote controls, and any parking cards should be left in the previously agreed-upon location. Please remember to respect checkout hours, as the apartment must be prepared for the next guests.

Report Any Issues Immediately

If you notice any damage or other irregularities at the beginning of your stay, take photos and report them to the owner immediately. This is valuable information that helps prove existing damage was not your fault. From the first day of your stay, you bear full responsibility for any damage caused to the property. This means if you stain the carpet, damage furniture or equipment, or break a mirror, you may be held financially liable. Failing to report issues at the very beginning does not exempt a guest from responsibility. On the other hand, if you accidentally damage something during your stay, it is best to be honest and inform the owner. Ultimately, honesty and communication are fundamental. If the apartment differs from the standard declared in the reservation or photos, you have the right to file a formal complaint.

Noise and Parties: Don’t Forget the Neighbors

One of the most important rules of staying in an apartment is avoiding excessive noise and late-night partying. Unfortunately, such behavior is very disruptive for neighbors, who often file complaints with owners or housing associations. Therefore, please observe quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. During this time, do not host loud gatherings that may disturb the peace of other residents. You certainly wouldn’t want to deal with noise nuisances if you were in their shoes. It is worth noting that in such situations, neighbors may call the police, which can lead to much more unpleasant consequences, including legal proceedings related to disturbing the peace, as regulated by the criminal code.

Other Stay Regulations

If you book an apartment for two people, only those two declared individuals may stay there. Failure to follow this rule may result in additional charges. Regarding pets, first check if the specific apartment allows them. If it does, it means the property has been properly adapted for your pet’s stay. Please note that smoking is strictly prohibited in all apartments.

How to Leave the Apartment

In short: we should leave the apartment in the same condition as we found it on day one. After every guest’s stay, the apartment undergoes an inspection. This includes verifying the state of all equipment; any deviations from the original condition will require payment from the client. Before leaving, it is appreciated if you tidy up. While our staff will provide a thorough professional cleaning after every guest, it is good practice to wash your dishes, take out the trash, and put things back in their place. Simply put: leave the property in the state you would expect guests to leave your own home.

By knowing these rules and being aware of the consequences of not following them, you will save yourself unnecessary stress and make every trip much more enjoyable. This will certainly help you avoid extra costs and potential disappointment.

Understanding the rules and regulations of your rented apartment is the foundation of a successful stay!
