Christmas and New Year’s Eve Defined by High Occupancy: Where in Poland Will It Be Hardest to Find a Vacancy?
Occupancy forecasts for the upcoming Christmas and New Year period are highly optimistic. Travelers are not scaling back on their holiday plans, and the number of bookings is rising day by day. This year’s season is notably characterized by significantly longer stays—in major tourist destinations, the average booking length currently stands at approximately seven days.
In mountain regions, only one in four apartments remains available, suggesting nearly full capacity during peak dates. While the Christmas period in major cities is traditionally quieter, we expect up to 90% occupancy for New Year’s Eve, fueled by a strong last-minute booking trend.
Seaside resorts typically face a greater challenge during the Christmas period. However, thanks to intensified promotion and strategic marketing efforts, we estimate that approximately half of the available apartments will be occupied during the holidays.
Pricing Trends
The upcoming season shows significant price variations between regions. In the mountains, where demand is exceptionally high, average rates are set to increase by approximately 10–15% compared to last year. This is a natural result of rising interest and limited property availability.
In major cities, prices remain at a level similar to 2024, although moderate increases are observed for dates close to New Year’s Eve in the most attractive locations. At the seaside, rates remain stable compared to the previous year.
Most Popular Destinations in Poland
Mountain towns remain the undisputed favorites for the Christmas and New Year period. This year, Zakopane, Wisła, and Karpacz stand out the most. For New Year’s Eve stays, there is also high interest in Kraków, Warsaw, Wrocław, and Międzyzdroje—destinations that offer a rich program of events and the opportunity to celebrate the New Year in a vibrant urban atmosphere.
